Directions From Major Routes

From Anchorage
  • Take the Glenn Highway (Hwy 1) North out of Anchorage.
  • Go approximately 12 miles past Muldoon Road (last overpass on the way out of Anchorage).
  • Exit onto South Birchwood Loop and turn right.
  • Go to the end and turn right onto the Old Glenn Highway
  • Turn right onto Monastery Drive (1st street on the right).
  • Saint John Orthodox Cathedral is on the left about one half-mile down the road at 18936 Monastery Drive.

From Palmer/Wasilla
  • Take the Glenn Highway (Hwy 1) South toward Anchorage
  • Approximately 17 miles south of the Glenn Highway/Parks Highway Interchange is the South Birchwood exit at milepost 17.2.
  • Exit onto South Birchwook Loop and turn left.
  • Go to the end and turn right onto the Old Glenn Highway.
  • Turn right onto Monastery Dirve (1st street on the right).
  • Saint John Orthodox Cathedral is on the left about one half-mile down the road at 18936 Monastery Drive.
