Mission Statement

The mission of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Women of Saint John's, also known as the Sisters of Mary and Martha, is fourfold:

To foster a sense of sisterly care and friendship among all the women of St. John Orthodox Cathedral.
To help with the upkeep of the Cathedral and its grounds, encouraging each woman to serve in some capacity, as her time and talents allow.
To minister as spiritual sisters to the physical and emotional needs of the members of St. John Orthodox Cathedral by prayer and acts of mercy.
To participate in the projects and meetings organized by the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Women of our Diocese and Archdiocese as far as it is practical for us to do, given our far distance from parishes in the Lower 48.

Clare House is an outreach of Catholic Social Services which provides temporary, emergency 24-hour shelter for women with children and expectant mothers. St. John's provides meals on the 4th Saturday of each month. Food is brought to the church kitchen and delivered to Clare House.
