Saint John’s community sits at the base of the Chugach mountains in Eagle River, Alaska. It is a parish in the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America.

  • Thursday Night Talks - 6:30pm Saint James House

    Fr. Marc, with Eric and Hannah, will host this time of discussion and casual conversation around the living room fireplace, about topics all Christians are challenged with in our modern world. We will approach these topics from the Orthodox perspective, but this doesn’t mean we will always come to perfect conclusions on every topic. Rather we will listen and learn from others and try to have an open mind about some things. The format will be to read a short something together followed by a discussion. Eloise Lamb - Memory Eternal!

Our beloved and remarkable sister in Christ, Eloise Lamb, fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, May 10. She was 98 years old. The Paschal Funeral service was held May 16. Pictured is the procession to the cemetery. Protodeacon Patrick Lamb, her son, is carrying the censer.May Christ, our true God, the immortal King, Who has dominion over the living and the dead, and Who rose from the dead, trampling down death by death and upon those in the tombs bestowing life... establish the soul of His servant, Eloise, departed this life, in the dwelling-place of the righteous...

Sunday's Homily Excerpt -

The funeral is the beginning of a new relationship with someone who has died, something that, in one form or another, will continue until the end of the world. Though we grieve for our loss, we are joyfully confident that Christ has... 'Trampled down death by His death....'
